Introduction
The Mildred Lankerd-Thomas Genealogical Library was founded by Mrs. Mildred Lankerd-Thomas in
1973. It was started with several shelves of her own collection of research books and has moved
three times to larger facilities. All of our staff are volunteers and the library is only
funded by donations.
Scope Of The Collection
The Mildred Lankerd-Thomas Genealogical Library's holdings include many research materials on
genealogy. Resources include over 800 family histories, cemetery records, county histories,
obituaries, early newspaper abstracts, maps, atlases, birth records, baptism records, the
complete Armstrong County census, a surname index, town histories, church histories, church
records, and American Indian, Irish, and German research helps. Our library also contains
photo-copy machines, computers, microfilm readers and a microfiche reader.
Fees
We ask a donation of $4.50 per day for non-members to use the Library, and $1.00 a day for student members.
Members of the Armstrong County Genealogy Club can use the library and research for free.
